Diesel cold start cable woes.

The fuel pump has a cold start cable atached but I think its off a smaller car as its only a foot n half long with "choke knob" still on the end!

The pull handle in the cab hasn't got a cable connected!

So im having to open the engine lid pull it from the inside of the bay run around and start her up!

again ne ideas!

The van should start ok this time of year without the cold start.
When we had our diesel we never had to use it, we did however change the glow plugs and after that the van fired up quickly and with no probs.
The plugs are a bit of a pain to change but well worth the effort.

You shouldn't be using the cable in this weather.
You should only need that when the temperature drops below freezing.
If your pump is work or the timing is a mile out then you will need it, I would be tempted to sort your engine out and worry about the cable when the temperature drops.

I agree with the others brad. Have never had to use the cold-start knob on our diesel in the 3yrs we've had him. There must be something else adrift if you need to pull this knob (!) in August. Sort that and you can probably never worry about your cold-start knob again!
