Leisure Battery not charging

Post by colouredFunk »

Hello,

I've just realised my leisure battery isn't charging. I've discounted it, tested the cables and there is no current going through.

I've checked the fuse connected to my van battery it's OK.

So is it something to do with my Zip unit? I can switch between my two batteries on the Zip unit and everything still works, so they are both connected to the Zig unit OK.

.. that's about as far as I have got....

Any ideas?

by the sounds of it colouredFunk may not have a relay to change. Its all part of the magic tha Zig sell. There may be relays in there or there maybe gizmos which switch at the correct voltage. I've not actually heard a lot of good about zigs which is why I made my own 12v distribution system.

none of this helps colouredFunk though. I think you may have to delve deeper looking for more fuses. With a split charge relay system there should be 2 fuses, one at each battery. Are you sure you have checked all the fuses?

Where do you get these leisure batteries and can I run a telly off them? How do they work? Also I would like a method of charging my mobile phone as I'm driving along. Any ideas?

As you can guess, I'm fairly new to campervans.

That's roughly how I got hold of one of those Lidl satelitte things when they first came out. The person who was going to get it for me overslept but somebody from another forum did get one. Within a month he put it up for sale as his wife took holidays to get away from the TV.
