Hi!
Finally got our bus back from the garage, and now it's time to do a few things to it.
firstly:
The wiring behind the dash is a mess, the speedo has suddenly stopped working and apparently the oil pressure switch (I dont even know what that is exactly but it sounds important) isnt even wired up, drivers side speaker isn't working and more! So I guess we'll try and take off the dash and sort it out. Any tips? Should I get a Haynes or something else? Is it easy to mess everything up totally?
and also:
It doesn't have any proper headlining, just thin plywood covered in vinyl foil. The rear view mirror is stuck onto the windscreen, which doesnt seem to be the most secure thing ever, it has a habit of just falling off - can anyone tell me the PROPER way that the interior mirror should be attached? I have a feeling it should be wedged in a hole in the plastic cab headlining? Can I buy one of those somewhere?
Thanks for your help!
cab headlining + wiring!

Don't Panic
Johanna,
If as you say the wiring you can see is a bit of a mess then try to get rid of anything that looks like it has been added on. This is usually easy to do as most quick fixes always include the incorrect gauge of wire from what is the norm.
Try to trace each wire you remove to make sure non are left un insulated if they have been spliced from a live source ie, Fuse box/Cigar lighter/Radio/Ignition.
Check the multi pug connector on the clocks as these tend to cause all kinds of problems if they become corroded (Oil light etc)
If you feel the dash has to come out to slove the problem, you will find there is loads of room to see what is going on once the facia is out of the way. (The shear bolts on the steering column are the only sticky part of this operation)
Speedo is mechanically driven so you have two things to check, 1st is the drive cable or the speedo head its self .
As far as the headlining is concerned I would be getting a half decent one out of another van ,,,,,,,,and the rear view mirror is usually screwed to the screen reinforcement panel plumb in the middle of the window.
