Battery/Fridge 240/12v

Hi,

have had my 89' LHD Westy California for a few years. Just replacing my LBattery and thought I'd try and sort out some longstanding issues and I wondered if anyone could help.

1. LBattery
Charges fine from MB but does not charge from mains 240v. Is there a fuse for this, as my mains 240v socket in the van works fine while connected to 240v? There are two torpedo fuses behind drivers seat - one 25A (red) and one 14A (blue). The 25A red has actually been bypassed I'm guessing in order for the 240v to charge the LB there is an invertor hidden somewhere in my van - where?

2. Fridge (gas is good - 12/240 not)
I've seen a lot of posts about it being difficult to tell if the fridge works on 12V or 240V as it takes time. Is there an easy way to find the 12V wire/fuse from the main battery to the fridge so I can test the wire and confirm it's not working? I can't seem to see where the MBattery split charge forks off to the fridge and LB.

3. Standard spec
I bought the van off a crook (another story), and he said he put a zig unit in it - but I'm wondering if a standard spec Westy LHD has a LBattery and split charge as standard, or whether the guy shortchanged me somewhat again in my 12v setup just to rub some salt in.

I'm wondering if the 240 not charging the LB, and the fridge not working on 240 are connected - some of the wiring and a relay seems to be under the drivers seat off the negative LB terminal and most of it well out the way behind a panel underneath the sink cabinet What is the relay for that runs off the negative terminal right under the drivers seat?

Thanks for any pointers and applogies for all the very green questions. Stripping a computer to bits seems easy compared to the 12v wiring in the van

Can't answer all your questions but can help with some. Mines a LHD Westy 83 vintage. There is a black box under the RR bed, thats the Zig unit. It should hummmm whilst plugged into the mains.

The fridge will cool rapidly whilst on 240v, if turned up to full it can freeze things!!!! I had a yoghurt freeze because it was touching the cooling fins.

The fuses by the drivers seat are for the 12v connection to the fridge. You need to get that sorted as a bypass is bad. It might have been bypassed cos the fuses was blowing. Mine did and I had it change to blade fuses rather than torpedo and have not had a problem since.

The fridge ruins of the Main battery whilst on 12v and will only use power when the engine is running, so it doesn't flatten the charge.

Also having problems with fridge.

Says it is 3 way inside, but only have on/off switch.

How do you get it to run off 240v?
