axiliary water pump staying on

Post by morganite »

Hi, 1.6 td, my axiliary water pump is staying on and running the battery down, is there a relay somewhere that should shut the water pump down once the coolant has cooled down? or is there something else controlling the pump? any advice appreciated

It runs when engine initially started - to prevent it seizing and runs when the engine is switched off when above temp defined by the temp sensor on block to prevent hot spots when cooling.

Check the wiring on block is not shorting to block. Trace the wire colours from pump, through black box 7pin and to the block.
