Vw t3 1990 2WD Tires

Post by Neorama »

Current setup is 185/70 on 14 inch rims.
I am looking to swap all of the old tyres (recently bought this van) for new all weather ones that fit the rims and a good enough load rating so either 185/70 or 195/70 i think. Does anyone know of any tyres in the UK? And if not, if I change to 15 inch rims, what tyres would work for that? Just looking for all weather tyres really so I do not have to swap here and there.

Hi,
The standard tyre size for stock 14" wheels is 185 80 r14.

Choice is fairly limited these days but I found that Maxxis still do a resonable range.

I bought a full set of Maxxis 'Vansmart AL2' all season tyres last winter. I've done a few thousand miles on them now in most conditions and they are very good.

205/65/15 work well on a 15 x 6.5J, that was the later VWSA stock size. Ran those for a few years, just make sure that the load rating is above 85, no need for full commercial 100 load tyres, they can be too hard in my experience.

iirc the site for checking wheel/tyre swaps is willtheyfit.com

SA microbuses had a lower load rating than that from new, 2500kg GVW means 625kg+ per tyre, 700 to be safe and then only if you are driving a fully laden camper.
102C tyres are no fun.
