Automatic transmission stuck in 1st gear

Post by The Tuffields »

I have a Vw 1988 campervan with 2.1l engine and automatic transmission. Van is stuck in 1st gear and cooked the transmission oil. Cleaned the governor and pan etc, drained and replace the transmission oil, but to no avail still stuck in 1st. Anyone know a engineer or specialist who can refurbish the auto transmission gearbox

Might be best to state whereabouts you are?
I'm in Kent and two places l'm aware of but never used. Both small companies. One in Sutton at Hone and the other in Teynham.

Thanks for the reply, we are in Pakefield, Lowestoft Suffolk. Don't mind transporting the van if needs be. Took out the valve assembly and found fragments of inner splined plates, so will need a master kit rebuild

Homefield garage.

Never personally used him. But have met him several times when l lived up the road. And bumped into him last year at a classic car show.

I would be more inclined to find somewhere more local to you, though.
