Repairing cracked fibreglass

High top van, I assume the roof is fibreglass (happy to be told otherwise)... Previous owner has cleverly drilled screws in from the inside making a few spidering cracks on the outside.

I'm thinking of firstly removing the screws and hoping there's nothing come all the way through... Then sanding back the outside, masking and filling. I've seen posts about brushable gel coat, is that the best thing to cover the cracks?

I'm not too fussed about the finish as long as it's vaguely smooth, the van owner is intending on putting some stickers on anyway so a bit of strategic placement will save me having to learn how to do a pro quality job!

Get a place that repairs boats to look at it. Gel coating alone wont provide the strength provided by the fibre. Gel coating alone will crack again.
