Westfalia high top with fiamma F45

Post by Syncronorth »

Is anyone using the fiamma gutter brackets on their westfalia? I'm thinking about this ones

Wonder if they will fit? Or could they brake the lip of the high roof?

I have that style on a westy high top. They are good and strong. Just need regular cleaning as they block the gutter to a degree.

Is the Westy high top GRP? You could risk cracking it.

We cut a small section of our Autosleeper pop top away to fit our ARB awning brackets using a Dremel with a 561 Multi bit and sealed with Tiger Seal afterwards.

Those are f35 brackets , they don’t fit a F45 awning , you can either fit the brackets or mount the awning directly into the roof

The westy hightop gutters are full to the top with sealant. Would you get that much required depth for the brackets to fit in.

Nice, I'm thinking something like this, just afraid to damage the roof

Are you sure F35 and F45 is not the same bracket?

I don't think so, would probably need to do like Alfredo did on his Autosleeper.

I was scared of damaging the roof too but the 561 Dremel multi bit I mentioned cut through it like a hot knife through butter.

100% F35 and f45 are definitely different, the f35 has a tubular type attachment and the f45 hooks over the top

Mine is a really old Omnistore 2000 but the brackets are the same design and the gutters are not full to the brim with sealant ( although as you can see they need some attention) But although I am not a fan of the design of the brackets, they do work fine and have no trouble holding the awning firmly.

The Westy roof ( and the factory High top 'ice cream tub' roof ) is factory fitted and the gutter is wider and has a custom section which folds over the lip of the high top so it is held mechanically and not just with sealant. Please don't try cutting it with a dremel. I think you will regret it.
My other Westy is not original. It is a 16" syncro panel van which was mated with a Westy at some point so might be described as a Westfakia. The gutter is standard and the roof isn't mechanically fixed ( i.e. only with polyeurethane) and there isn't much room for those type of brackets so my awning on that is attached to the side of the roof.
