Post by dsa »

Can anyone recomend a leisure Battery for under seat fitment if there is one low enough or is it best just to get a standard battery its a standard westy with no mods so the battery only really works the sink tap and fridge ignitor and night heater

Available automotive batteries to fit under the seat:
Type 100 - 70Ah
Type 075 - 65Ah

These are connected using regular automotive terminals.

The TN power one I have is the only AGM deep cycle battery I could find to fit under the seat in the proper place. It is a proper leisure battery . 75 Ah.

A note on AGM charging: they require a higher chaging voltage for maximum working life, so you need a dedicated charger or a "smart" one with a winter setting which will push it to 14.4v iirc
I have an AGM for our caravan and charge it this way at home, green field top-up by a 100w solar panel with integrated controller set to the appropriate voltage.

I have just bought an Eco Worthy Lithium 100 aph battery from Amazon.Dimensions are 10.23" L x 6.6" W x 8.23" H at 23.15 lbs (half the weight of lead-acid),

Suppose you can weigh it up for size and its got a very handy blue tooth app to monitor the health of it,so far so good for me, early days but impressed, have bought a cheap portable Solar Panel for the odd time off grid in summer.

Strange to be buying a battery described in English dimensions in these modern v times?

Those dimensions translate to approx 260L x 168W x 210H which is very tall. I would be concerned about it shorting out on the seat base.

The TN Power one is L262 x W165 x H170mm and if it had lead posts on it it would be too tall. It isn't for cranking so doesn't need cranking battery posts and cables. Just has m6 bolts in recesses on the top.
To be fair, I have a cut and carpeted piece of aluminium as my battery cover on that side with rubber sheet bonded underneath. It sits on top. So I have no idea if it will fit properly under the hinged stock battery cover which must be a few mm lower as it is flush.
