Temp gauge not. Working 1.9aaz LHD

Post by jacko1967 »

Hi to the auto electrician on hear I am afraid I am not one 🤣.
So today I tried to fix my temp gauge I fitted a new brickwerks sensor in the engine block with finger x 🤞 but no good.
so I have dismantled the clocks taken the gauge out and put 12 V across it and the needle moves 👍 so must be the blue sheet or the wires from the engine bay I guess 🤔. is there a way to get the gauge to work with a new wire somehow? Any help from this amazing resource would be great Iam a long time owner but useless when it comes to electric 💡⚡
Many thanks in advance Danny.

you need the wiring diagram say from Syncrosport.com and a cheap meter and the basic knowledge of how to continuity test (see YouTube) and then check the wiring from back to the dashpod on the yellow red wire - if that is good then the issue is the blue foil circuit or the gauge - be careful putting 12v direct across anything you don't understand
Bentley manual has proper testing procedures in it, you can download a copy if you search members only - or you could cos OBG would end you a link, but he's not well so I don't know if we have a solution in place now ?

What happens if you remove the yellow/red wire from the sensor on the engine and ground it?

Should make the gauge go high.  If not like Aiden says it will be  time for continuity tests.
