Stainless exhaust system

Post by Madmaninshed »

Hi, Our 1986 DG petrol engined van will need a new exhaust system soon ☹️.  Can anyone suggest a really good complete stainless system please - a good compromise on cost/performance/durability? We are in SW France, so a company that ships there would be great. Many thanks.

As for shipping, I don't know, You would have to ask them I guess.

I had mine from these. And they have a lifetime warranty. They are an exact copy of the original. I've no idea if they ship abroad.

Hi there from another T3 user in the south west (Agen). Just wondering out loud, but do you really need a stainless system, considering the warmer weather and lack of rust down here?
I notice Mecatechnic do a range of stainless exhausts, but they're not cheap!!

Thanks Craig,  That’s a good point, but I’m a tart, and just love well engineered things that last. The existing one is just about hanging on.  I hope to use the van for a few years and then ship it to my son in NZ, totally sorted.  I had a new Caravelle Carat back in the 90’s as a company car, and it went rusty after a few months in the salt. VW resprayed it twice, and eventually refunded. This one, although RHD was used on a French camp site.  There’s no rust, apart from the exhaust, and it now has a genuine 56k miles on the clock, despite the previous owner taking it on a 10,000 mile trip round Europe. We love it!!
