Starts then cuts out

Hi, new to T25, relatively handy with an old landrover...

Our T25 needs revs to start, and need foot on gas all the time or engine cuts out... it's a B reg, water-cooled petrol original engine. Very few modifications to vehicle.

I've seen comments suggesting adjust idle screw, other saying don't touch on pain of death.

A refreshed carbon was replaced last summer and it ran fine until recently. Lots of pipework replaced at same time as carb.

Hints and tips on where to start/work through much appreciated. Thanks

As a starter I would check vaccum pipes, perishing or cracks etc. Or even loose.

As mentioned plus check the inlet manifold gasket.
Get someone to carefully spray some carb cleaner around it and see if it picks the revs up.
