2L CU rebuild, camshaft needed.

Post by Rosie n' Jim »

Eventually after pushing on with an engine that had several issues, I have taken the plunge into rebuilding it. I had expected to find a poorly top end, but was shocked to find a very badly worn camshaft. My plan is to replace the cam and lifters, ideally hydraulic. But supply is not straight forward. VW Heritage do one, but with a twelve week delivery time! Does anybody have knowledge of a faster turn around? I would rather not change to solid lifters, but I do realise that cams are more available and a greater choice.

Thanks for that, always thought of Newmans as being competition cams. Price is very pleasing.

I spoke to Ken Newman the other day, flat 4 cam blanks in the correct grade of chill cast iron are now back in stock, following a change of supplier.
I'll be getting some in ground to the 2.1 spec as well as a fast road profile for bigger capacity engines.
I presume that Andy at Campershak will be doing something similar.

I've been away till today so haven't chased my local supplier. Nearest to me is at Sandy Bedfordshire. From what you say, they don't hold any stock? Any idea of delivery time! I only need a standard cam for a CU engine, though a little more torque would be nice.
