cardboard inserts behind grill

What are the cardboard things behind the grill on a t25 2.1 dj waterboxer , Air flow direction things . Do I need them can I get them.

You can buy them new or as others have done make your own out of something like an old for sale sign. There’s a template on the Samba forum and probably on the wiki on here.

The cardboard inserts are used to direct air-flow into the radiator, rather than bypassing to the sides or underneath.

I think the upper 'almost square' ones are only needed on vans with round headlamps.
Not the rectangular nor twin South-Africa style twin round headlamps.

The bottom and side ones are used on all water-cooled vans.
With the engine being 14ft behind the radiator, you need the radiator to be as efficient as possible.

If you want a more realistic material, you could use the old-fashioned box files.... or am I just showing my age.
1983 Tin Top with a poorly DF and 4 speed DT box.
1987 Electrics and a DJ engine.
Maybe one day I might get it finished

I have searched the samba Dave but cannot find the templates. Can you give me a clue as to where they are please mate.

same on here, Google search is often better than our own search function, just tell it you want the info that is on club80-90, it's especially good if you know what you are looking for, but know it was years ago, or know who posted it - it saves trawling through their posts
