Jx water pump pulley

Post by pierce »

My 1.6td jx water pump pulley is worn the belt is squeaking and need constant tightening and belt grip spray.

The pulley fitted is a double 068121031Q which doesnt seem to be in stock at brickwerks and I can’t find it anywhere else.
I don’t have power steering, can I just replace it with a single, presumably a longer belt that goes straight up to the alternator.

Thanks in advance 👍

I have just had a look, it would need different alternator brackets to bring it inline.
I take it if the belt snaps on the single it’s no waterpump either

I think it might be your pump which is worn and not your pulley. Usually when you buy a new pump you re-use your old pulley. I don't think they wear. The wearing part is the bearing in the pump.

I think that's the one you need for a jx but best to check. There are cheaper ones available but that is a reputable supplier.

It’s had a new pump recently. I have had this problem for 14years 🤣
I checked and the bit that’s worn is the waterpump to crankshaft, but that belt is absolutely fine.

I feel that the alternator is coming loose, I tighten it up to as much as is reasonable, but it still falls down, I suspect the upright bracket that tensions the alternator is slipping.

Can you post some photos? I'm sure someone on here will spot the problem.
