I have an AHU engine with a KKK turbo which has a pipe from the compressor to the N75 and one from the N75 which goes back to the turbo to operate the wastegate.
It seems that the KKK turbos are regarded as better than the Garretts but are much harder to find. I can find plenty of remanufactured Garretts.
The Garrets all seem to have a pipe connecting the compressor straight to the wastegate actuator. In theory I can use either turbo, but I cant find any info on what might be needed to swap them. There appears to be no place for the N75 valve with the Garrett turbo.
UK turbo rebuilds are more than I can afford, whereas eastern European rebuilt turbos are affordable.
Has anyone swapped from a KKK to a Garrett?
Does anyone have a spare KKK turbo kicking about?
Or even a good working actuator of a KKK ( also hard to find)

Have you ever heard of Walker before?
https://walkerinductionsolutions.shop/
A google search just shows lots of autodoc type sites.
I have been warned off the Chinese turbos but the eastern European ones look quite promising

Re: AHU turbo question
Autodoc is ok. Good pricing. Week-10 days delivery, depends where the item is held, could be anywhere in Europe.

will they ship to UK ? A lot of european companies won't
Autodoc are good I use them for bearings, and seals, and dampers, electrical parts, in fact anything oem that they can still supply - pretty reliable and recent orders have been 7 days delivered, no delivery charge over £150 and UK Vat registered so that's all handled by them without issue; it was a mess in 2021 post Brexit - only downside is they use Evri now, it was better when they were full DHL, even when it was DHL=Parcelforce for me, but PF have gone downhill over last couple of years, and tbf my local EVRI delivery service is pretty good and reliable now, after 2years ago going through a number of different final delivery solutions after the driver who stuck with them through Covid, and worked his ass off, and got burnt out, moved on.

Re: AHU turbo question
Well, here's a thing;
Having finally established that boost on an AHU should max out not much over 12psi, I realised the van was actually going into limp mode after overboosting (i.e. if it went much over 14psi for more than half a second).
I thought I should establish definitively if the waste gate and actuator were working. I gave the wastegate lashings of wd40 and gave it lots of back and forth with some baby moles until I was happy it wasn't stuck and then got the truck close enough to the compressor to test the actuator with the airgun and it definitely works. I thought the compressor was at 8psi so gave it some beans on and off. It turns out it was at 8 bar (makes way more sense when I think about it) and it appears I have woken up the wastegate and I had my first drive with full boost and no limp mode since I put the engine in in 2013
I could put my foot down and it would go over 12psi and then feather back to 12 with my foot to the floor. It was frickin' awesome with the only issue being the storm winds last night almost blew me across the dual carriageway so I had to slow down.
I didn't really understand what was happening before. Lots of trial and error, and a huge amount of trawling TDI forums finally made me see that because it was going into limp after overboosting, it was limiting the fuel and not letting me boost.
I drove it to Scotland and back like that. It was OK. But disappointing being that it was a replacement for the original 112i .
I just drove it down to the beach and back ( very steep hill down to Carbis Bay from the main road) and it pulled up there like a train. Like a proper car.
I am soooo stoked.
So , new Turbo defo on the list, but it looks like I have a little more time to save up.

Re: AHU turbo question
But I really appreciate the Autodoc recommendations by the way. Thank you.
I think that's where my new Turbo will come from.

Re: AHU turbo question
Just go easy with all that new found torque or you will need a rebuilt transmission before too long...TDI's give the 094 a hard time.

Re: AHU turbo question
Understood, I don't push it at all until its warmed up, especially at this time of year. Luckily I live at the top of a hill. It is just nice not losing power half way up the first hill of every trip
I get that the gearbox is the weakest link ( apart from the nut connecting the drivers seat to the steering wheel) of my beloved truck and becoming more and more difficult to replace, so I do try to look after it.
Where do you stand on DMF? I'm thinking it would be a good idea asap but there are very mixed opinions.
