I have a new issue, the temp gauge led flashes and the needle goes all the way to the right when I put the ignition on.
I have been installing a reversing camera so I had the dash pod out, and carefully feeding wires through the rats nest to the place I need them. On reassembly, I have this new issue.
To try and diagnose the problem, I have;
- Gone back and double checked all my connections and anything else that I might have disturbed, all connections look good.
- Been through the earth crowns and nothing is dislodged or corroded there.
- Replaced the temp sensor.
- Ran a second wire to the dash and tested continuity both the red/yell from the (new) temp sensor (on the water pump) and the blue/green wire on the level sensor, they are both good.
- Removed and cleaned the level sensor, no noticeable gunge.
- Took out the dash pod and checked the tracks at the back or the ribbon, there are no visible breaks.
- Took apart and reconnected all the connections in the engine bay Conn box. Checked all the earths while I was there.
Any suggestions or tips would be gratefully received. I've looked at the Bently manual and Haynes to try and understand the wiring flow. The only thing left is the capacitor that I have read exists in the temp gauge, is that a regular fail point?
(I've just found a post about Relay 42, I shall get one of those and try that)
