I'll pick up where PoloG40 (Paul) left off with the same heater(s) as being his daft Dad I've said I'll have a go at getting at least one of them working.

Now my question is, does anyone have a current flow wiring diagram for the old diesel D2 as fitted to a 1989 Westfalia? I have the more geographically laid out diagrams but they are not as easy to follow (for me) as the current flow versions.

Failing one for the Type 25 (T3) then one for the early T4 with the D2 fitted would be of some help, I've failed to find one on line up to now.

Also fault finding data would be helpful like voltages at certain points / times and component resistances etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Oldiebut goodie how are you doing? In your last posts you were at the mercy of our NHS I believe.

I am still being cared for by the wonderful NHS nurses, doctors and consultants. 12 weeks and counting, you get a lower sentence for theft! They are not missing a single missing heartbeat , thank goodness.

Have a look here B2L files.  Especially the one saying troubleshooting manual.  Dont worry that the page says it is for B2L (petrol) versions as the actual manuals cover the D2L diesels too.   Am assuming you have the D2L not a D2 going by your sons previous post but if you really want the D2 try navigating up a level from that link and you will see a whole load more manuals.  Hopefully the wiring diagram in the back is the type you want.

When I first tried getting the D2L in my original van working I was working from the German version of that guide and it helped me a lot.  My problem I think was that the controller (and a spare one)  I had was not original to the van so I used that guide to get the part number that matched the model number of the heater on my early 1983 van so I could search for the correct controller online. That was over 15 years ago so a bit easier to find on eBay than I guess it is now.  Before getting the controller I was able to test most other components like the thermoswitches , pump, glow plug, thermostat, fan etc and ruled out just about everything else but the controller.  Both the "bad" controllers that came with that van were marked B2L/D2L and the plug fitted both but one was in a much bigger can than the other. I sold one to someone on this forum who had a petrol heater after he had first tested it and confirmed it worked for him.
