Steering column earth?

My horn isn’t working, but when I earth the contact to a point that isn’t the steering column it does. So I’ve lost my earth through the steering column.

What should I be looking for?

1991 petrol originally if that makes any difference?

Got this one little brown wire just hanging around if he’s got anything to do?

No obvious place for it to connect to though.

on my 1990 built van there is a link wire joining the upper and lower sections between terminal on the two sections either side of the rubber isolators on the extreme right of your photo

Thanks Aidan. Yup, I don’t have that wire. I’ll investigate further
