welding

Post by MC 1 »

Has anyone tried welding a waterboxer head, mine was pitted near the compression ring. I was using a Thermal arc 175 TE set for tig , Argon Gas . I used to weld Aluminium scaffold systems, but I could not lay down a weld on this head even though I cleaned it good.

Any pictures, most likely contaminated if it’s porous

Never heard of anyone doing it to a WBX head, not to say people dont, but I guess it helps to have the right tools to do it.

I have the right tools , I was a welder for 30 years ,I was wondering about the alloy used to make them. Anyway will boil it in my spud pan with some fairy liquid dry it , and try  to get a small bottle of helium gas. When its too cold to be under the van I'm finding things to do on my bench .
