REV COUNTER

i have just fitted a rev counter in my t25 1988 2.1 . On start up tick over the neddle only move very slow dose anyone no what is the problem.  Thank you in anticipation  Tony  :ok

Is it an aftermarket rev counter? Does it have a switch to change from 4-6-8 cylinders?
