Replaced starter motor, electrical fault

Post by NoobyNiall »

:(

Hello all,

My starter motor failed, got a replacement from Rhino automotive.
Put Everything back in its place, mechanically.

Electrically not sure, I put it back together same as the original wires.l, took photos.

There are 2 terminals , is an empty terminal, I put the positives on this,(battery etc) there is also a spade connection I connected my leisure battery relay to this.

The other terminal , There is a prewired cable to the solineold , nothing connect to this.

There is a short somewhere , checked everything.

When I pull the cable from the battery to the starter , short is gone.

Or if I pull the relay it’s gone.

Any ideas?

Thanks

there should only be two wires at the starter, can;t go wrong. a fat one to the solenoid main input and a thin one to the solenoid actuation, have you done something more to complicate things as its not clear why your having a problem,

Its a DG , there should be two big (red) wires that go on the same connection( one from the alternator, one from the battery ) and the small trigger wire onto one ( it matter not which ) spade connection
