Fluorescent tube lights

Post by mariner »

Hi all. Need to replace my original tube lights in the top of my van. Struggling to find anything that doesn't give a harsh white light rather than the lovely amber glow of the originals. Saw one at Dream Lighting but that has a luminous on switch that glows in the dark which I don't really want either - can't say I've found myself fumbling around in the middle of the night for the light switch when on a campsite! Anyone know where I might get something close to the original (underatanding that lighting has changed a bit since 1985!). Thanks in advance.

On my Gipsy I reused the original enclosures and switch and replaced the innards with stick on warm white LED strips.

As above, best way is to get some 12V warm white LED strip and replace the ballast and tube in your existing fittings.

Do you have lights with the two pins at each end fluorescent tubes? They can be found on Amazon. They also have LED ones. They are T5 tubes I believe?

Also, be careful of the LED ones as they can be fatter in diameter. I tried one but it wouldn't fit in my light unit.
