T3 awning 1984 transporter

Post by isaacfull »

Hi All,

New to this so please bear with!

We have newly bought our first van and are looking at bits and pieces to do to her.

So....does anyone know if/how you can attach a drive away awning? I can't see any place we can put a strip on the van for the awning? The gap between the pop top and the door doesn't look big enough? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm sure there will be many more questions as we get going!

Thank you

Terry

Welcome, welcome.
Go for an awning that attaches to the gutter of your camper. Use plastic figure of eights attached to gutter and fits the kador (?) beading of your awning.
Be careful opening side sliding door so not to rip awning tunnel.

yeah straight onto the gutter. if your gutters are missing the trim it will be too loose so you will need that.

We had a rigid pole  something that came with maisie, was allright but a bit of a "marital stessfest".   but last winter got a last season Vango on ebay for a 5th of regular retail (£200 as opposed to 1K( so look out foir deals in the next few months. It's an air beam so putting up was easy enough, then the take down is relativly simple and then a case of trying to ram it , or the wife back in the bag.

They are all a bit generic thoug and fitment a bit poor, we tried to fit one to an early sprinter last week and it did not seem quite right..

Unhooking for drive away on the figure 8's is  a bit of a faff, and returning you need to set up and hit some marker points to ensure reasonable tension without overstretcing,

for a short trip it's not worth putting up but 3+ days then it's a bonus
