2.1 DJ , Toast or Teacake....

Post by TwinTurbo »

I have stripped the 2.1 I recently got as a short motor.. I think from these two vids I am concluding it's Toast  Camshaft not terrible but not worth re-using and Slop in the big ends.

Not an ideal situation. Depends on how deep are your pockets? And your engineering skills, too?
Typical DJ hammered big ends. So the conrods may be oval shape now. New rods about two hundred quid
Replacement camshafts are out there. But it's finding one.
Finally, the clamping pressure of the cases plays a big part maintaining oil pressure. If the cases are good and no line boring needed, then the engine may be rescued by forking out a couple of grand.
