Help- Low Compression & Oil Pressure 1.9 DG how far to rebuild?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Yep. I agree. Unless you can find another matching number camshaft it is pointless to continue.
This is exactly the point l got to last July. So a home rebuild costing under a grand spiralled to 2.5K.

Damn thats a real shame, but I appreciate you both looking at the photos for me.

So the option now are either

Call it a day with this engine and hunt for a new one to stick in. Assuming a dj or dg would be the best fit as its simillar to whats in there so an easy(ish) install?

Try to find a matching cam? How do I id my cam so I can hunt for a new on?

If I did buy a new cam does that become an expensive complicated operation to fit into this engine?

Cheers for all the advice, it may be the death of this van but we will see yet.

Saw this on eBay, not sure if this is of any use at all - the right questions would have to be asked as to why it was removed etc and always a risk with second hand engines:

I see he's left the torque converter on the drive plate, and pulled it off the 'box! Image
For that money I'd want the auto box too.

On the camshaft sprocket there is an index number. It will read +3 or - 2 or similar. Post a photo.

There were no other obvious markings on it, as far as I could see.

The rivets can be drilled out so you retain sprocket and then bolt it to a better condition camshaft. But that is tricky and there is dwell to consider, and that is serious business.

Silverbullet is your man for this.

So mine is stamped with -3.
I think drilling out the rivets is probably beyond my skills, as I have a pretty minimalist setup.

Whats the likelihood of finding a replacement cam? Os that virtually impossible?

Without a replacement am I looking at 3-4k for a rebuild?

Start searching online. Or contact Brickwerks for stock update. Or commit to this and see if it fits okay by fitting against crank and revolve in reverse to see if it lifts up at any point. If it does, get an engineering firm to swap sprocket. Campershack or Holman Engineering perhaps.
