Spade end on side of distributor

Hi I have an empty spade end of the side of my distributor, 1983 T25,is it an earth,not had a wire on it ever as far as I can remember, thanks wayne

This thread explains it. Not having a carb, its never been used on my van.

The shield around the cap is earthed using the tab on the side of the dizzy, you can see the earth braid in the picture.
