Early caravelle captains seats arm rest removal

Post by steve770 »

Hi folks. Currently putting together my interior after bodywork. Picked up an early style captain seat but armrests seemed fused in the down position (I'm correct in thinking these should go up and down?)

I had a franken-seat set up with a late style captain back (with adjustable armrests) grafted onto the original seat - got a new set fairly cheap as one seat had missing arm rests so intended to move mine over for a complete set - hand't realised at first they were the earlier non-adjustable!

Anyway, there's a bolt on outer armrest, which I've removed but arm rest not budging. I've given it a fair whack but wanted to check it just that bolt before breaking something - I know the later arm rests are held in with a roll pin.

Do I just need to give this a bigger whack?

Basically yes. They are the same as my old caravelle seat. It is probably a bit rusty.

Remove bolt. Pull arm towards you and wiggling the arm up and down to release.
