Hi all,
Problem with my wipers, motor is running smoothly, but the wipers “twitch” but don’t move. If I try and move the wipers by hand they both move freely and independent of each other. I guess something has become loose somewhere.
Access to the mechanism looks like a royal PITA, any tips?

Both spindles are worn. Take off black dome caps and tighten nuts.

Could be? Start there first, though. The wiper arms could be worn too. Where they slide over spindles. Take them off and sharpen the serrated area with a small file or carefully cut with a junior hacksaw.

If above doesn't work, the nut can bottom out on the threads, try a small washer under the nut, with internal diameter large enough to slip over the spindle splines, to force the wiper arm further onto the spindle.
