I’ve just popped into my local blacksmith with the gear lever. He put the bent spot in his two coil induction furnace heated it up in a few seconds to red heat then bent the lever back straight. He wouldn’t even charge me for the work.
It’s great to have the support and knowledgable advice of all the members here and local, skilled craftsmen who have the right tools at hand to do things.
I know your sorted but well done on the fix
My Doka 5 spd snapped off so i got a piece of 14mm steel rod off ebay and had my engineer drill and tap it, same for the broken base piece and screwed them together
...also threaded the top end with a 5 inch extra bit to take the gearknob, cut for correct placement, i was well chuffed
Had it bent up at my local Motosave as i use them a lot and they've gotten used to my crazy requests (other than taking a gas torch to a siezed adjustable shocker...clean up aisle 2...)
Of course it snapped, so i welded it back together and never looked back, was an awesome thing
My Caravelle 5 spd is one of the best shifters ive ever had, stock parts refurbed with new from Brickwerks, short shift kit etc all for £130, best money ever
