Dash lights.

Post by BarnyE »

I did a stupid thing and put the battery feed to the “little black box” onto the negative terminal in an utter brain dead moment. The diode on the alternator popped and started smoking.

Now I have issues. No glow plug light, no charge light, oil pressure light flashes on and instantly goes out and the temp light is flashing.

Everything else is doing its thing. What damage have I likely done apart from the alternator. I’ve looked around at obvious things, had the clocks out. They look okay, nothing burnt out.

These faults may not be related to the “mishap”. I’ve had the engine bay stripped down and have re wired some bits and pieces to tidy it all up. It had all been very bodged before. But before I took it apart, they did work. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try it between rewiring and my mishap.

Any pointers on where I should be looking?
