JPT Terminal Extraction Tool

Post by Alfredo »

Why are these so expensive?

Any tips for a Heath Robinson DIY version

I pin and depin these several times a week - I've got the proper £100 tool, from TE connectivity, somewhere. I've also got a load of those £3 chinese kits with a handful of various terminal tools strung on a bit of post-office-pen chain and I find myself using the cheapo ones, they work fine and the proper tool is probably right at the back of a drawer somewhere and not worth the effort going to find it.

you can make your own single tip tools from the stainless steel inserts in the rubber of normal wiper blades, you'll need to make 2 to get jpt terminals out except from the hall sender plug

I have the ones on a chain but find the two prong ones don't work at all well as they are two thin and tend to bend rather than hold the terminal tabs down

ymmv

All the cheap Chinese sets I can find only give sizes.

Is the one I need in this set?

JPT terminals are 3mm square and roughly 10mm to end of tab from front of connector

Tang is 0.7mm for the small JPT terminals.
