Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
Just started engine using cold start procedure, needed a bit of tickling on accelerator to encourage idle speed (couple of taps/depressing pedal for a bit), engine running smoothly at fast idle speed, minute or so later tapped on accelerator and engine revs dropped to normal idle speed. (No rev counter so relying on sound). So all looks ok and problem now solved. Thanks to all for pointing to area/ areas to look at, looks like cleaning the step down mechanism was the issue or should I say resolved it, as pointed out. Will take for drive later to fully test it.

Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
Annoyingly the problem has returned. Started engine yesterday using cold start procedure, engine ran with a bit of encouragement from the accelerator pedal, revs sounded a bit low for a cold start, after a short period with engine running tapped accelerator pedal engine revs dropped but sounded to low and engine cut out. Only way to keep it running was by adjusting the fast idle screw to increase revs. Had to do the same today, took van for a drive, appeared to be ok initially but then engine kept cutting out when coming to a stop. So was a case of when approaching a stop, depress clutch and rev engine at same time to keep revs up. Anybody got any more ideas, in addition to the good advice already given. Added an image to ensure i am referring to correct carb, the idle screw i refer to is bottom right of centre

Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
Cannot seem to identify the above imag as a Pierberg 2e3 as when I look at various images and inforrmation am unable to associate with mine, for example fast idle adjusting screw on throttle lever and adjusting screw to set on second step of cam. Not visible on my carb. So completely baffled.

not quite sure what your asking, both imaes are of 2e3's but there's a number of options that the base carbs could come with depending on the Vehicle manufactureres specification and the year.

Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
Thanks for reply, the image is of my Carb, when I look at instructions to adjust settings on various guides,, references are made to adjustments, one I have seen on line is to adjust the screw on the throttle lever, mine doesnt appear to have this, so how do i adjust to increase or decrease revs, another mention is to set an adjusting screw on the second step of the cam, what cam as cannot see that on my carb also. So bit stuck as how to do these adjustments.

Thanks, where is the adjusting screw to make contact with that as guidance keeps referring to. This area amongst others is confusing me

Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
Unable to locate items described by Twin Turbo on my Carb, only visible screw is one described in my image to bottom right of image, this alters revs but dont know or what part of Carb it alters or if its the correct one to set idle revs etc.

Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
From my little understanding of the Pierburg, that's the idle adjustment, which does alter the revs.
Re: Pierberg 2E3 Carburettor Issues
Also the cam is to the right hand side of the carb

Thanks te,.it does alter the revs, but constantely needs adjusting it is not loose so does not unwind or wind itself, so suspect something else needs looking at.
