Expansion Tank Coolant Pipe Leak

Post by The Hairy Camper »

One of my coolant pipes has started to leak from the expansion tank. It only happens when the engine has got up to temp.

The pipe is on as far as it will go (fiddled with it lots today) and I'm using the original spring clamp (as I believe these are meant to be better than a hose clip). Has the old spring clamp just lost its strength?

It's not a big leak, just a steady drip. I should have a spare hose clip from brickwerks in a box somewhere, but maybe I need a new spring clamp? Don't like how the thin the coolant pipe looks here either.

Years ago I got a replacement hose from VW for my CS at the time and it was the wrong diameter even though it was labelled up as being the correct one.

I'll route through my box of clips tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have one that fits. If it still leaks I'll make an order with brickwerks. I may buy a new pipe too, I don't like how thin it is where it joins the expansion tank.
