Android head unit constantly on
I have spoken about this issue over on the what have you done to your van today thread but I thought it would be better to start a new thread.
I have an aftermarket Android head unit that stays on permanently.
When I press the off button the android screen goes off but the LCD display stays on.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DB7L7HB9? ... in_title_1
Over 3 or 4 days this drained my battery a little, measuring 10.15v this morning.
I checked the constant yellow 12v and the ignition 12v, both were wired correctly.
Key out:
12v measured from the yellow
0v measured from the red
Key in:
12v measured from the yellow
12v measured from the red
I swapped the red and yellow over just in case but it made no difference.
Any suggestions what I could do to rectify this please?

Re: Android head unit constantly on
It should be
12v all the time (red) for normal ISO standards.
Pin 7.
12v with ignition on (yellow) for normal ISO standard loom. (Black on VW loom).
Pin 4.
If the radio stays on no matter what, then there are only two thoughts.
Ignition logic is disabled.
Or
The radio is designed badly.

Re: Android head unit constantly on
If you have the wiring diagram for the radio, then it would help to know for sure how it is meant to be installed.

Thanks for the reply. This is from the user manual.
I thought yellow was constant and red was acc / Ignition?

Re: Android head unit constantly on
I read this on another forum.
It appears to be quite a common Android Radio fault.
There is a solution and it is quite simple.
Go to settings,
car setings,
then click on gears and type 000000 pin
Turn off quick boot,
while you are there change time from network to gps and thats it
I should advise that these are not my words.
Each make / model of radio has it's own code.
This one says 000000 (six zeros),
Another says 1414.
So check your manual for the correct code for your unit.

Thanks, I found and tried that with no success.

Re: Android head unit constantly on
The only thing I can think of, is
to move the battery live wire from a permanent feed (red wire)
to a "key in" feed position (grey - black) available on some later ignition switches.
This way, the radio is dead when you take the key out.
You may have to add the wire to the ignition switch socket, or beef-up the exhisting wire if it is present already.
Especially if we are talking about a parasitic drain of 0.6 amps.

Re: Android head unit constantly on
Found a lot of the Chinese type android units kill batteries in a short time, check the current draw if you can
