Non starter after a couple of years not used

Where do I find this mess?

The crowns are on the left A pillar, just above / to the side of the fusebox.

Under the left end of the dash panel.

It is very scary back there.

I have a pic of the wiring and crowns. The main one looks more than a little corroded.
But haven’t uploaded pics before.
Any ideas?

Unbolt the crowns and manually clean them and where they seat on the bodywork. Replace any terminals that are badly corroded.

Yep - a proper clean to shiny metal is needed.

If you can't get them shiny, then replace any mucky bits with new crowns or spades.

It is a pain, but worth it in the long run.

Will this have been the problem with no power to various components?
Horn, hazards, indicators, fuel pump, fuel gauge?

Yeah....apart from fuel pump. Direct power to relay in engine bay.
The ECU plays a part somewhere along the line. If that is faulty then no go.

Test you have 12v (with ignition on) at fuel pump. It's location is just rear of fuel tank on RHD side.

You will see dozens of threads about electrical gremlins,
The majority of them will say somewhere, "check and clean the earth crowns"

Quick question. Is your van automatic or manual?
Autos have a lock out switch on the auto shift lever.

My dj is manual.
The fuel pump relay clicks as expected.
So far no power to fuel pump.

ECU is tucked away on left rear engine wall or in recess behind left rear light. It has a multi connector with about 16 terminals.

ECU testing requires a multi meter and a list of test procedures found in Bentley manual. A copy is online to view.

Take a step back a second. Test the fuel pump. Ask someone to turn ignition key to stage one (before turning engine over) with your hand touching the fuel pump. As ignition key is turn to stage one does it vibrate for one second then stop. If yes, refer to Haynes manual page 4B.3 for further tests.
