So, just thinking if it's the solenoid that's gone and they are difficult to get hold of, what are the options for this part?

solenoids are generaly very reliable when used in low cycle envitonments, I would be more suspect of the supply.

If the solenoid is unresponsive,

Find a 2e3 cheap on ebay with a valve and hope it works
Find a new valve
Find a 2e3 from another application that does not use the shut off and has the blanking plug , VW seemed to like it, Ford did not bother.

I have wondered if a larger bore 2e3 from another application may give better performance but I think I have read that the 2e3 on the DG can provide more volume than the 1.9 can draw. Its not a limiting factor.

If you cannot find a solenoid i’d suggest contacting Eric at the Carburettor Hospital, although they are currently away till 17th March though:

Been looking for a new solenoid and they are like chicken teeth.

Been on eBay, not many on their and they seem to be for rebuild.

Have wondered if the same solenoid from a 2.1 DG would work as it's the 2e4?

I am thinking more supply issue

Was trying to get hold of Eric in November as he had a pulldown, very difficult to get hold of by phone or email.

Well, eventually got to the bottom of my issue. The gasket between the manifold and carburettor had gone and caused a air leak, so just waiting for the new gasket to arrive from Brickwerks and should all be good!
