I have always had a bit of leak on the rear door.. some drips here and there esp in heavy rain which was a bit annoying which I always put down to a Knackerd seal… so I bought a new one… and as it happens it’s now even worse…. Does the seal sit on the top or bottom lip??
also note the rusty hole drilled in the inside frame of the door above the window, check if you have any holes in the outer top frame of the door, there may be 2, on the left for the heated rear window, and on the right for the rear wash wipe, if the rubber bellows the cables run through from the body to the door are split or missing then you can get water ingress into either the tailgate or the body and if it gets into the body it will seep through the headlining onto the seal and look like the seal is faulty.
The door may not be original to the van and may have come from a vehicle that had the extra features but is fitted to a more basic vehicle but the holes may not have been properly sealed prior to fitting - back in the day there were rubber sealing grommets available for holes that were present but not used, not sure if they are still available
