anyway to locate the original engine number?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

1980 Model Year Type 2 (T3)(T25), model 254.
- Kombi, factory fitted windows.
- Cargo door left.
- RHD.

No clue on number of seats. would be 7 or 8 seater, factory fitted seats.

Chassis Number supposed: WV2ZZZ25_AH092037
Production date: Thursday, March 13, 1980

Engine: CT, 1584cc, 50 bhp, Aircooled flat 4 petrol.
The original transmission was a 4 speed DN or an AVW. The only difference between them is the final drive ratio, DN: 5.86, AVW: 5.43.

Upholstery: Van Dyck Ribbed brown upholstery.
The photo suggest the exterior colour of Light Beige, which was a special order for 1980.

The car was supplied in Ramsgate
1990 ex. German Army Syncro, 3 knob, AFN, M469 fully converted to 16". Camper conversion by URO CAMPER in Seville.

The building in Ramsgate still exists where the VW Audi models were unloaded. They were then driven/transported then to a building that is now owned by Flambeau plastics, soon to be levelled for houses.
Aparently when built in the 60's it was the largest concrete building of it's type in the UK.
I've got pics on my phone somewhere but there are loads on the Ramsgate historical society's Facebook page with lines of VW lined up at the docs, type 1 being lift off the ships etc, fascinating stuff. We have a customer that lives directly opposite.
Once the concrete building fell out of use the cars were drven to a place towards Sandwich which I believe is now a CoPart, I'm sure some VW/Audi have gone full circle and gone back to wence they came!

Thanks ! Interesting stuff about VW history. But not as interesting as this bit of Ramsgate history:

The girls on the right hand side are literally that. Girls. And they don't look to comfortable about the whole thing either.

At my age, anything able to wear a mini-skirt or shorts and get away with it is a young girl.
To be honest, anything under forty is a young girl.

It looks like a typical 70s fashion publicity photo.
The girls look neither thrilled nor unhappy to be there.

I am not quite sure if any one of them could offer you your engine number though.

I'd say barely legal and that still doesn't make it right, regardless of when the photo was taken or the age of the male looking at it.
If anything, the older you are the worse that makes it. Teenage lads know no better as their brains are in their pants, a grown man should know better.
