No Off Side Indicators On Hazard Switch.

Post by maxstu »

Prepping camper No2 DG1.9 1987 for pending MOT.
All sound apart from hazard warning switch on dash triggers near side indicators only and not both sides. Off side indicators inoperable on hazard switch. Yet they work using indicator lever.
Tried another relay 21 or 22. No change.
Any pointers please?

Check the wiring on the switch stu, maybe rob your switch off the other van to see if its the switch itself or some wire thats duff/not connected

It is indeed the switch. Many thanks for the info.
What's the purpose of resistor in the working switch on the right?

Regards
Stuart

led instead of a bulb? But 330 ohm is a bit low for a standard led, 850ish would be more like it.

Thanks OBG.

Do you mean the hazard light switch illumination bulb is led? My dash was converted by Angeloev many years ago.

Pop the bulb out and have a look is the obvious thing to do!

FWIW I recall having a hazard switch that did weird things when it had the obligatory pre-mot "check everything still works" poke around.
Gave is some exercise and it settled down after a while, could have been a bit of bad earthing in the mix too, but the indicators worked ok.

Incidentally the dodgy hazard switch worked absolutely fine in other camper.
Today, l tested hazard lights again. A bit of a buzzing noise from fuseboard area, a wiggle of the H switch, then it functioned as it should. Perhap it is relay related? Maybe there is an earth issue, too?
