Is there a portable jack option that does not use the jacking point. My front passenger side not too happy.

Re: Front passenger jacking point toast
A bottle jack placed inwards of the jacking point under the outrigger is good , you need a steel plate or thick piece of plywood to span across the outrigger .

Re: Front passenger jacking point toast
Thanks, looking at a bottle jack and trying to figure out where I will get a bit of steel from. Is the rigger the bit running along the side of the bus underneath the sill?
Thx

No, the outrigger is the inverted U shaped structure that runs directly from the JP inwards towards the centre of the van.

Re: Front passenger jacking point toast
you might want to check out scissor jacks or bottle jacks. They can be more versatile and might work better if your regular jacking point is problematic. Just make sure the jack you choose is compatible with your vehicle's weight and lift requirements.

I have old squares of scaffold board for this. Can give you a solid steady base for the bottle jack and bridge the gap in the outrigger as well.

Re: Front passenger jacking point toast
The front jacking points are important structural areas, tying the sill end and B post together which contributes quite a lot to the stiffness of the bodyshell, especially on the sliding door side (critical on a twin slider!)

Are jacking points an MOT thing?

Yes! Both front and rear. Unfortunately I found that out from the recent MOT on my van. Both rear JP's need replacing.
Be prepared for it to be more work than expected to repair them. Once you start cutting away you'll more than likely reveal some unseen horrors!
There's quite a few threads related to the JP's which are well worth looking at...don't forget to look in the Restoration section as well.
