Just a quick update on the outcome. I can confirm that the size of this core plug is 24mm. As these were out of stock at Brickwerks I sourced mine from Core Plugs International, excellent service.
It is awkward, but the plug can be removed and refitted with the pushrod tubes still in place. Driving the new plug in square and deep enough is the main challenge, but it is doable and no leaks so far.
