Yep, I presume a replacement brush-pack / regulator.

No - it will be one of the main diodes inside.
If one has gone it will cut down the amps put out although the alternator will still work, just reduced output. A bad one can still allow enough current through to ground to light the red generator light.

The low voltage output even with a new brushpack is an indication of a problem. ( says above 13.5v whereas the regulator should be giving you something like 14.2v )

Read the bit about diode replacement think I will leave that to someone else
Hopefully pick up new alternator Monday

Today disconnected everything put old brush pack back in 90amp alternator reconnected back up started engine red light went out
13v at battery with ignition off 13.2v with engine running still the same when I switch on headlamps
13.5 at alternator engine running up 13.6 when revved. Will this be ok to drive 200miles the weekend or should I still go in dept for a alternator

Should be at 14v to be fair..

If the light goes out id think it would be ok...

Now it looks like the brickwerks brush pack is duff because now I am fight back we’re I started except now with added and cleaner earths

Returned brush pack received a new one almost instantly fantastic service from brickwerks
Fitted it today 14.2 volts at fast tickover happy days
