Hi guys
I'm in the market to get my 41 year old American AAP 5 speed box refurbished.
I've emailed Aiden - who unfortunately isn't taking on any more work at the moment......anyone know of another Gearbox Genius/Wizard/Mad -Scientist who might be interested in taking on the job ????
With my 1.9 Tdi in the back going strong....the gear ratio's need tweeking a tad too.

Re: AAP 5 Speed Re-furb
Cheers fella - had a look & their up in Leamington Spa....
I'm down in East Sussex.........Anyone know of anybody closer to me.
Had a chat with a fella at Rotherfield Gearbox's...he wasn't keen due to difficulty in obtaining parts ect - shame really as he's literally up the road from me. A few people I've spoken to say the same.
Anyone got any ideas ?

There's a guy, Jim, I think is his name, trades as the VW Gearbox Shop, he's in Kent, has a nice website, seems to know his onions, I put a customer on to him recently, he was impressed with the initial interaction and let me know that but never came back to me to let me know the outcome
Otherwise there's Bears Motorsports in Brum, John Walklett in Staffordshire; I don't know if CogBox is still trading. I'd steer clear of the Engine Shop as they only do the barest of minimum refurbishments, using used parts, at fixed price, and no willingness to do bespoke or obtain new parts (other than Chinese made pinion bearings) and fit them even though they are available, they just say can't be repaired.
