Hi, can anyone recommend someone or a company that refurbishes/rebuilds Solex carbs? They're off a 1983 2.00 air cooled and are the original carbs. Solex 32-34 PDSIT-2 and Solex 32-34 PDSIT-3..........for those who know I probs didn't need to state that. When they were on I was told the spindles were worn and air was being sucked in.
The van has an Empi 32 36 progressive carb but I want to go back to the original setup.
Many thanks

Give them a ring, they will sort you out. They do have a bit of a lead time usually though as so popular. Proper old school knowledge.

Re: Carb refurbishing/rebuilding
Whenever twin Sole carbs are discussed, spindle wear is sited as a problem. My feeling is that they would need to be really very badly worn to cause anything other that a minor misstune at idle or small throttle opening when inlet vacuum would be greatest. This could be corrected via the idle circuit. All mine have a little slop, but I don't feel that it causes an issue.

I should have said that it's the carb body that wears, not the spindle. That would be far too easy to fix!
