Hi all,
Does anyone know the rules for having these certificates for historic vehicles? I've never had either and it's never been requested by insurers etc. Wondering if it's only for new vehicles with more complex installations.
I have a minor issue with my Zig 6 (I think), when I plug it into the mains, the sockets are immediately live without me flicking the switch on the Zig. Only found out about certs whilst talking to an electrician about doing a health check on the unit. Alas he's not allowed to touch the mains aspect, only the DC. Anyone know anyone in East Sussex area?
Cheers,
Peter

Re: Gas and electric safety certs
He's technically allowed, but his insurance probably won't cover it.
There's no legal requirement for any kind of gas/electrical certificates in a vehicle, other than what is covered by the MOT. It's definitely advisable, and there are a lot of old wives tales going around the motorhome/caravan bunch - Companies selling expensive modern stuff get the certificates done to cover their a*** in case something goes wrong.

Re: Gas and electric safety certs
It used to be that these certs were only legally required for vehicles that were hired out as a business - may have changed in the intervening years though. I think that converters get them to cover their arses when completing an installation.
