Relay lever boot replacement 1980 2 litre CU

Post by simonmarsh »

Sorry if this is a daft question and apologies I haven't got a photo yet but does anybody know if the replacement of the relay lever boot at the end of the gear shift shaft (at the gearbox end) can be replaced easily without removing the entire linkage? I'm a bit worried to make a start in case I mess up the adjustment!

Thanks

Simon

It should be possible by just undoing the retaining nut that attatches the relay lever onto the gearbox selector shaft.

Just use tippex or something to mark the splines on the shaft and the relay lever.
(After you have removed the 13mm nut and before sliding off the splines).

Maybe one day I might get it finished

If you put it in neutral the lever will point vertically, no need to mark anything up really, the splines are fairly coarse so it'll be obvious if it's on wrong
