Found this relay. Ignition sends 12V into relay but nothing comes out, can I safely join the red to the red black ? Image

Just in case anyone else has such a relay I joined the 2 sides together and voila! Now down the mountain which was so steep I had to stay in 2nd with the engine screaming. Made it but at the expense of the power steering belt. It never ends but really impressed with the stoicism of these engines in 40 degree heat and incredibly steep gradients.

I would say they are part of an old alarm/immo system.
