Oil sump question? I’m sorry to ask !!

Post by herman_t25 »

Hi all,

I’ve searched the internet and cannot find the answer so I’ll ask the experts.

Need to do an oil change on the van. 1.9 waterboxer but the sump plug is as below. Is this original or a fix? It’s pretty solid so haven’t put any force on it as I don’t want break it and give myself a headache :?

I can’t work out if this is meant to be square or just that beat up it’s now like this 😂

Hi mate, no definitely oil. The gear box has what I’d class as a standard sump plug in

Cheers

It’s definitely not a standard sump plug for a 1.9 dg wbx.
Maybe someone has stripped it and retapped it?
Maybe use a pump to remove the oil before opening a can of worms.
I do my 6 month change with a pump and for the 12 month one I drop the oil and change the filter.
The pump does a pretty good job.
David.
the future is unwritten

Should be this ^^

Sump Plug M14X1.5, you can go up to M16 if it’s stripped.

thanks David, felt none standard. I'll take your advice and pump it as I'm dropping the engine out in the winter so will tackle that when out.

cheers
